Bill Heiderich is an artist, educator, and builder, with his primary identity as a working studio artist. His sculpture has been featured in numerous publications and exhibited in over 200 international, national, and regional shows. Making objects by hand brings Bill immense pleasure. He is fascinated by fabrication, building, and the wide variety of materials and techniques available.

Bill is drawn to 3-dimensional geometric shapes for their simplicity, precise edges, and elemental structures, which allow for cohesive visual compositions. Many of his pieces are slab built and wheel thrown, using low-fired glazes and fired in electric kilns. In some works, the vessel's interior becomes the most powerful visual element, with shapes transitioning through the walls of the structure. For Bill, craft is an essential part of the art, with the process reflected in the final form. He often works in series or thematic groupings, using an iterative approach to explore and refine his ideas.
