She is a Professor at the Kansas City Art Institute, where she has taught in the Printmaking Department since 2002. Laura also publishes an ongoing series of artist interviews, Reflections on Color and Printmaking, and co-runs Prairieside Cottage and Outpost, a family-friendly artist retreat in Matfield Green, Kansas, with her husband.

Grounded in earthly experiences and the human body, Laura’s work explores the impact of small actions that spark significant events. Her images reflect the interconnectedness of vast and minute elements in space. Her images are created through a process of perpetual iteration, where families of colors, imagery, and compositions closely relate without ever duplicating. As layers build, colors blend, imagery compounds, and patterns form. This dynamic and playful process leads her work to evolve as it is made, constructing entirely new visual worlds.
