Maya Kabat is an artist based in Oakland, CA. There is a visceral quality to Kabat’s thickly applied oil paintings. Her work investigates concepts of embodiment through landscape, architecture, geometry, color, and texture while emphasizing the tactile physicality of the embodied experience. Since receiving an MFA from the University of California, Davis, she has had numerous solo exhibitions including at Caffe Museo at SFMOMA. Her work is included in many private and public collections. In 2021, Kabat completed her largest commission to date for the lobby of the newly constructed Kaiser Permanente Medical Offices in Berkeley, CA.
